 Ekarma. a desert island in Crill islands chain, Kamchatka, Russia The world first pictures taken on August 1988. I and 5 reseachers had visited Kamchatka to met with Dr. Gerasimov, chief of Russian Science Academiy Kamchatka Branch. We fied over the Sea of Okhotsk to Ekaruma isl in the Cril island chain from Petrohabarovsk, the captal of Kamchatka Stete. We rided on a russian big helicopter called Krechet, or Gryfalcon. What a nice name ,I was so dellightefd to fly with it. |
 There is a fuel drum in the cabin and seats were removed, we had to keep
standing or lean on a drum all the way to the island.It is a desert island and it was the first visit by researchers in the world. Ekarma had been used by hunters of Sea Otter in 1800's. Ekarma is surrouded by steep clliffs. so it's (see poto below). Landed on a small hill coverd by glass. see Tufted Puffin and Fulmer. |
