Birds Hokkaido is the high bird-diversity region, and is the birdwatcher's paradise. Warblers, Stonechat, Rubythroat, Woodpeckers, Owls and many birds breed in summer. Egales, Sea-birds, gulls, Snow bunting, Rosefinch and other rare birds are wintering there.
Japanese Crane gathers at Tsurui Crane observatory and Akan Crane Center in winter, enjoy their courtship displays. See juveniles with parents at Kushiro Wetland, Notsuke and Nemuro Grassland in summer.
